Thanks so much again for the greatest vacation Linda & I have ever had! Even with the sprained ankle everything was wonderful and we are trying hard to figure out when we can return! Your charm and hospitality are a wonderful asset to a beautiful destination! Watched the Syracuse game last night and thought every minute about how Mo was reacting! Bracket sheet pretty small now! Give our best to Zoe and her courtyard partners! Thanks again! Will keep in touch!
Usually I am glad to get home. Not so this time. You were just too good to us. I keep hoping I will smell the ocean and hear a parrot when I wake up. Instead it is dreary and all I hear is the furnace rumbling! Hope you are doing well. We truly appreciated your hospitality, I have been talking you up all over Vancouver Washington. Kindest regards, and hi to Zoe.
If you're looking for a B&B in the Golden Zone, don't think you can do any better than Capt. Moe's Posada - Dorothy and Moe are great hosts and their PR agent, Zoe (a Jack Russell Terrier) is most charming! They are about a 3 or 4 block walk to the beach and restaurants, etc. I could go on and on, but know we than take the risk of having the place full every time we want to come back! Feel free to e-mail me personally if you have any questions or want further info!
We were welcomed into Captain Moe and Dorothy's home by a beautiful, lush garden courtyard and the soft chatter of parakeets. Our room was spacious and spotless, with lots of sunlight. Every room has a private entrance, refrigerator, air or ceiling fans (more than enough circulation!) and large bath area.
The Gold Zone location saved us loads on taxis because everything was within comfortable walking distance, even in heels. We had great fruit and the freshest pastries for breakfast each day. At night, we enjoyed the stars and listened to chirping crickets because there was absolutely no street noise. There are no TVs or phones in the rooms, so this isn't the place if you need to be "plugged in", but for those of you who like to "drop out" THIS IS THE PLACE. I hesitate to share this info out of selfishness because I hope to book a room when I return soon, but everyone who wants to relocate to Mazatlan but can't yet, should experience this place. It allows you the privacy of a hotel with the feel and comfort of living in your own home.
We agree! Just spent 3 nights there (2/9, 2/17, & 2/18) and were very impressed with their hospitality. Moe & Dorothy made us feel very, very welcome, and they did so many "little" things that made such a difference. Much more like staying with friends/relatives than at a hotel.
During my most recent visit to Mazatlan (my 4th in 12 months) I discovered the secret to enjoyable travel...Captain Moe's Posada! Because I was looking for something beyond the "typical" tourist experience Captain Moe's gave me exactly what I'd been missing on previous trips, the feeling of LIVING in Mazatlan, if even for a brief time.
A beautiful courtyard with cooking facilities, lounge chairs and blooming flowers (including some of the most incredible Birds of Paradise I've ever seen); private entrance to a clean and airy room with both bathroom and vanity area, refrigerator, ceiling and additional fan, and the most comfortable bed I've slept on in Mexico were just a few of the amenities offered. Captain Moe and his wife Dorothy were wonderful hosts, recommending restaurants and entertainment spots as well as warning of places to avoid. It was nice to have a more "local" perspective directly from Americans living in Mazatlan.
The Golden Zone locale made for easy walking to almost all of the places we wanted to be--the beach, most restaurants and shopping. I'm returning in a month and have already reserved a room with Moe and Doe!....you can email me directly for details

My Dad and I stayed at Capt. Moe's from 06/14-06/21 while fishing in Mexico and it was better than any hotel stay we have ever had. Everything from the room to the food to the hospitality was great! We simply have nothing remotely negative to say. If you want to enjoy your stay in Mazatalan, you owe it to yourself to consider this B&B. We will definitely be back! Thanks Dorothy and Moe!
